Vanity

Am I so vain that-

I do not care

I care too much

I put “i” before “e”

and all before “u”

Am I so vain that-

I make things difficult

I cannot see

I will only notice flaws

Not the potential of “what could be”

Am I so vain that-

I do not open the door

I miss my opportunity

I hold myself back

All because of my vanity

Am I so vain that-

I look right through you

Through everything I see

I do not capture the world

Only the reflection of me.

I am not vain

You wouldn’t see

How flawed I truly feel

Once you look past

Your own vanity.”
